The government Study Programme Guidance for 2023-2024, states that: 

• All students funded through the 16 to 19 funding methodology must be enrolled on a study programme, or T Level programme, which typically combines qualifications and other activities, and is tailored to each student’s prior attainment and career goals.
• All study programmes must have a core aim. This will be tailored to the needs of the individual and typically include a substantial qualification (academic or technical) or preparation for employment. A new core aim for the T Level Transition programme was introduced in 2020.
• All study programmes should include work experience and non-qualification activities, which complement the other elements of the programme and support the student to progress to further or higher education (HE) or to employment.

At Stuart Bathurst Catholic Sixth Form all of our students are carefully guided through their enrolment to ensure that they have access to the full Study Programme for 16-19 education. This means in practice that all students:

• enrol in a Study Programme which meets the minimum 540 plus 40 hours planned hours in terms of delivery and participation.

• enrol in academic subjects such as A Levels and Applied General Qualifications such as Cambridge Technical Level 3 and one of these will be identified as their core aim in partnership with the student
• who have not achieved a Grade 4 in either GCSE English Language or GCSE Mathematics are enrolled and entered for this subject with timetabled lessons scheduled each week – this is currently 1 hour per week per subject and all students are invited to attend additional revision and exam preparation lessons prior to examinations
• complete a Work Experience Placement during the Summer term in Year 12
• participate in a daily tutor time activity and also study Core Religious Education as part of their non-qualification activities as well as a well-being weekly session. This element of their Study programme ensures that all students are enabled to ‘develop their character, broader skills, attitudes and confidence, and to support progression.’

In addition to the Study Programme requirement receive UCAS preparation and careers guidance from Connexions, careers Fayres and also via the Unifrog platform – all to prepare our students for the world of work.
