Catholic High School has had a busy and successful year, with significant achievements and developments. The leadership team has been strengthened, and the OFSTED inspection in May 2024 provided the verification of the hard work and dedication that has gone into the school over the years. The school is committed to improving examination outcomes and increasing student involvement in local parishes and communities, engaging with multi-faith communities and local Catholic Parishes.

In January 2025, the school will welcome Mrs Duffield as the new Head of School, who is eager to get to know the community and start her role in the Spring term. The school has also been focusing on enhancing students' literacy skills, with Key Stage 3 students using Sparx Reader to improve vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Additionally, Year 12 students have volunteered as Reading Buddies to support younger students, fostering confidence in reading aloud.

The English department has been proud of the creative writing and poetic skills exhibited by Key Stage 3 students during Remembrance Day, with students using their skills to convey respect and produce stunning work. Year 10 students have been exploring the novella ‘A Christmas Carol’ as part of their GCSE English Literature studies, using their knowledge from Year 8 to understand Victorian England and Dickens’ socio-political views.

The school has also been actively involved in supporting various charities, putting Catholic Social Teaching principles into action through events like CAFOD, Wear something Pink for Breast Cancer, and Macmillan Coffee Morning. The Catholic Life and Chaplaincy of Stuart Bathurst Catholic High School continues to grow, with all students warmly welcomed to join the Student Chaplaincy Team.
